Restore your chewing, smiling, and speaking capabilities with a natural-looking set of implant-supported dentures.
What are implant-retained dentures?
Implant-retained dentures are like the beautiful conventional removable dentures we create for our patients… but better.
Implants are titanium tooth roots that fit into the jawbone. Once they have healed and integrated with the jaw, a set of custom dentures can be screwed in and out of place.
The presence of the implants dramatically increases the level of stability you have when you chew, talk and smile with your dentures in. Long-term denture wearers can benefit hugely by choosing to go from unsupported dentures to implant-supported dentures, no longer having to experience daily instability once the dentures no longer fit their jaw.
Implant-retained dentures are equally beneficial for patients with gaps in their smile, who have had enough of struggling through eating meals and speaking without all of their teeth.
Why choose implant-retained dentures?
Replace all of your teeth
Full mouth reconstruction (replacing all of your teeth) is possible with implant-retained dentures. We use state-of-the-art CBCT scanning software to identify where in the jaw will allow for the long-term placement of implants. For the majority of our patients, implants can last a lifetime, acting as a permanent solution for tooth root replacement. You may require dentures replacement every 15-30 years, depending on how well you look after them.
We offer our patients a choice of premium materials for their dentures, including hardwearing and tooth-like porcelain.
No limitations when you speak and eat
Having the freedom to eat without the anxiety that your dentures will make an unwelcome exit from along your gum line should be something all of our patients experience.
With implant-retained dentures, this becomes a reality. You will be able to bite down on any food you like without feeling scared that your dentures will dislodge. Your speech clarity will also significantly improve, even if only 3 or 4 teeth are being replaced with implant-retained dentures.
95%+ success rate
The implant systems we use are supported by decades of research and testing, so it’s no wonder the success rate is so high for our patients. We use the Sweden, Martina, Straumann and Neodent implant systems.
Maintain your jawbone structure
Implant-retained dentures are placed directly into the jawbone. This protective and preventive technique ensures your jawbone doesn’t recede and causes structural changes to your lower face. This is a common issue with unsupported traditional dentures; as the jawbone shrinks, the dentures no longer fit, and the lower jaw changes shape to look aged.
Cost-effective and 0% finance options available
Implant-retained dentures use fewer implants than if we were to replace each individual tooth with a single implant. This system allows you to have a whole arch of tooth replaced with as few as 2 implants.
We also offer 0% finance to help you spread the cost of your dental implant treatment to ensure it makes financial sense for you.
Your implant-retained denture journey
Step 1: Consultation
Your full consultation is when we will explain the treatment and take CBCT scans, X-rays and photographs of your mouth and jaw. We will present you with a treatment plan in the days after your consultation if you are eligible for treatment.
Step 2: Implant placement
Dental implants are placed under local anaesthetic by an implant dentist. This process takes approximately 2-3 hours. Once your implants have been placed in the jaw, the healing period will begin right away. During this time, the jawbone grows around the implant, treating it as if it were a real tooth root.
Step 3: Dentures design
Your dentures are designed whilst you wait for the healing period of 3 to 9 months to be complete. You and your dentist can choose a shade that fits in with your existing tooth shade, or it’s also possible to have a brand-new shade for your teeth if you are having all of your teeth replaced with implant-retained dentures. Each tooth is made to look in proportion with one another and with the shape of your gum line and mouth.
Step 4: Denture fitting
Once your dentist has checked that the jaw has fully integrated with the implants, your dentures can be test-fitted. We will show you how to screw them in and out for cleaning and how to clean around each individual implant.
